Private Boat Tours from Sorrento

Sorrento is one of the most strategic and elegant starting points for a private boat tour in Southern Italy. Set above the Bay of Naples and connected to both Capri and the Amalfi Coast, it offers a departure that feels smooth from the very beginning of the day. From here, guests can cruise past the Sorrento coastline, admire the timeless character of Marina Grande, and enjoy the kind of day at sea that balances scenic beauty, flexibility, and comfort.

Capri, Positano, Amalfi. All Within Reach , Your most effortless departure on the water

Few places in Southern Italy offer the logistical elegance of a Sorrento departure. The town sits at the precise meeting point of two of Italy's most celebrated maritime corridors: the Gulf of Naples to the north, with Capri rising 18 nautical miles offshore, and the Amalfi Coast curving southeast along some of the most dramatic cliffscape in Europe. From Marina Piccola, your private charter can reach either in under an hour. That flexibility matters more than it might seem. A Sorrento departure means your day isn't committed to a single route before it begins. If the sea is glassy and the morning light is right, head west for Capri — arriving at the island's northern coves before the ferries dock and the crowds form on the piazzetta. If you'd rather trace the coastline slowly, head southeast toward Positano, Furore's hidden fjord, and the medieval harbor of Amalfi, stopping wherever your crew recommends. Sorrento is also the most practical departure point for guests staying anywhere along the Sorrentine Peninsula, in Capri hotels that require a sea transfer, or in Naples arriving by train. Our concierge team coordinates hotel pickups, pier logistics, and any pre-departure arrangements so that the morning of your charter begins as smoothly as the day on the water. Every private boat tour from Sorrento includes an experienced English-speaking skipper, freshwater on board, and a fully customizable route. Champagne, gourmet antipasto, snorkeling equipment, and onboard photography are available on request. The fleet ranges from traditional wooden Gozzi to high-performance open speedboats and full luxury yachts — choose based on the pace and style your group prefers.

FAQ

  • Sorrento sits at the geographic center of the Gulf of Naples, giving it direct sea access to Capri (18 nautical miles), Positano (22 nautical miles), the full Amalfi Coast, Ischia, and Procida — all within a single day charter. No other point on the coast offers this range of destinations without a transfer. For guests staying along the Sorrentine Peninsula or arriving by train from Rome and Naples, it also eliminates logistical complexity. A Sorrento departure is both the most connected and the most comfortable starting point in Southern Italy.

  • Yes. Sorrento is widely used as a departure base for private itineraries to Capri and along the Amalfi Coast, making it one of the most versatile starting points for guests who want a tailored day at sea.

  • A Sorrento departure is ideal for couples, families, and travelers staying between Sorrento and the peninsula who want privacy, comfort, and access to multiple iconic routes from one convenient base.

  • The season runs from April through October. Peak months (July – August) offer the warmest water and longest daylight, but also the highest demand — book at least 6 weeks in advance. May, June, and September offer an exceptional combination: water warm enough to swim, fewer crowds at every destination, and the extraordinary quality of light that photographers and painters have sought on this coast for two centuries. October remains beautiful for those who prioritize calm over crowds.

  • For July and August departures, we recommend booking 6 – 8 weeks in advance, particularly for larger vessels and specific itineraries like Capri full-day charters. In shoulder season (May, June, September, October), availability is generally broader and bookings 2 – 3 weeks ahead are usually sufficient. Last-minute requests (within 72 hours) are occasionally possible for shorter charters and weekday departures — contact our team directly for availability.
